Frequently Asked Questions

What will happen at the first counselling session?

South Manchester Counsellor FAQs At our first session we will explore what you want from therapy. Over the first few therapy sessions we can draw up a verbal contract of what you would like to achieve in therapy. This can be reviewed, revised or completely changed at any point during therapy. At the end of the first session we can decide if we would like to work together. If we decide to go ahead , I would ask you to commit to 4 counselling sessions.

How long will the counselling sessions last?

Each session will last for 50 minutes.

How many counselling sessions will I need?

There are no set number of therapy sessions, it is your decision how many sessions you would like to attend. This can be decided on a week to week basis. It is important initially to have weekly sessions so that we can build a strong therapeutic relationship which will help facilitate personal growth and change. When you decide to end therapy an 'ending session' is desirable.

What's your cancellation policy?

As long as you give 48 hours notice I do not charge for cancellations. Otherwise a cancellation will be at the same cost as the missed session.

I'm not sure what I want to come for. Is it still ok to come?

It is perfectly ok for you to come and explore things. I often have clients who are either unsure why they have come or who have so many reasons that they cannot pin it down specifically. Part of our work would be to explore and help you clarify and understand, as well as to address any specific issues that arise.
